AUsome AUburn weekend!

Catherine, Jill and me enjoying catching up :)

Getting ready for kick off!! We try to get in early enough to see the eagle fly. Unfortunately, the pic of the eagle I took was pretty bad.

War Eagle!! No place I rather be on a fall Saturday!

We enjoyed another great weekend in Auburn. It was another nailbiter, but Auburn came through once again!! I hope they can continue to improve and keep delivering wins!! As much as I love Auburn, I'm looking forward to being home next weekend. We have decided to skip the LA-Monroe game next week and then they are on the road to Kentucky the next weekend.

Since it was another hot Saturday, our family decided not to set up a tailgate. We decided to wait until it is cooler in October, but in the south it sometimes isn't cool until November. We shopped and ate downtown and then were able to visit some friend's tailgates. I'm so glad I was able to visit and spend some time with sweet dear AU friends. We visited Catherine (Lewis) Botsford's tailgate and Anna (Vascocu) Owen's tailgate. I'm looking forward to seeing them more this football season :) Although we will miss AU next weekend, we're looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home !

The simple pleasures in life...

Since we moved to small town USA there are many things I miss about living in a larger city. Of course we miss the shopping, friends, etc., but one of the main things I miss is....yes, Chick-Fil-A!When we go to the big city...(Jackson, MS) we usually choose a nicer restaurant, but if we are traveling back to Alabama I'm always sure to stop at Chick-Fil-A!! You can find one in most decent size towns in AL, there are actually very few in MS. (I still can't believe Columbus, MS doesn't have one!!) They just don't know what they are missing. We are headed to Auburn once again this weekend. Of course, I'm looking forward to seeing old friends, family, a great football game, but I can't wait to stop at Chick-Fil-A for dinner tonight in Northport, AL. Living in a small town has really made my trips to Chick-Fil-A and the mall a real treat!!!

War Eagle Weekend!!

We headed to the plains this weekend to see Auburn take on the Clemson Tigers. It was an AUsome game and victory. Lets hope AU will play like they did in the 2nd half this Saturday against South Carolina!! War Eagle!!

Dining Room Makeover

So you can tell I have no life if I'm blogging about my dining room. Since I don't have children, I have a lot of down time....and I'm usually thinking of a new project for the house or how I can make it look better. I love decorating and our house in MS is older with a lot of character, which makes it even MORE fun to decorate. I also know the day a baby comes into our world my decorating budget will become NADA b/c I'll be spending it on every cute smocked outfit I can find (haha)!!

Fortunately the previous owners had great taste and left little to be done. We need new paint here and there and our tile countertops drive me NUTS, but other than that I'm very pleased!! Once the thorn in my side is gone (our house in Montgomery)....the kitchen is next on my list. So for now we are just doing little projects here and there (changing window treatments, painting, etc.) A lady here is Kosy did my new drapes and did a WONDERFUL job!! Jason was so pleased he said I can do the living room next - YAY!!

Next step for the dining room is a table runner and to get the chairs re-upholstered (probably the chairs and runner in the same fabric). I've picked a few, but my blog readers (all 5 of you-ha)......PLEASE give me feed back on what to do on the chairs....stripes, solids, diamonds??

***Fabric hint/advice- I know most of you like me LOVE Hobby Lobby. I had never paid close attention to their fabrics until recently. I decorate on a budget and it makes me sick to spend LOTS of money on fabric. I was able to find the fabric below at Hobby Lobby, as well as the fringe. The fabric happened to be on sale and we also had a coupon. The 9 yards of fabric and fringe costed me only around $150. That is pretty cheap compared to other fabrics I found. It may not be the best quality or from a designer showroom, but if you want to save... try Hobby Lobby!!

Love how the fringe matches perfect w/ the dots :)

I also saved a lot by getting the rod at good ole Bed Bath & Beyond w/ a 20% coupon. They had great looking curtain rods and reasonable prices!!

Got to do something with those seats asap!! See some of the fabrics below. Give me some feedback on which one you like....

Happy Fall Ya'll!!!

I know it is not officially fall until 9/22, but I'm ready for it!!! I get all excited when I take Radley out in the morning b/c there is a nice cool crisp chill in the air. Then today at lunch the bank building read 95 degrees. It was definitely a reminder that summer is still here. Although I love the south, I wish I lived in a place with 4 distinct season (maybe leave out winter). Kentucky, VA, or NC would be nice. I wanted to share w/everyone how many leaves have fallen in our yard. I know Jason is not looking forward to raking them :( Just wanted to post a few pics in honor of my beloved fall!!

Can you believe all these leaves and it isn't even October. You should see the driveway and deck. Although they are annoying, it is a reminder that cooler weather may be near??

Probably way too early to hang the fall wreath, but I don't really care (ha)!!

We do make memories in MS too!!

It seems like so many of my recent posts are all about memories and events outside the state of MS. Which is funny since my blog title is "Making Memories in MS". With football season starting we will be finding ourselves in Auburn a lot. This summer we seemed to keep the road hot with weddings, showers and vacations. I hate to be gone so much, but we're trying take advantage of the NO CHILDREN thing while we can. I know once a child enters our life we are not going to be able and pick up like we do now.

I do want everyone to know that we do have a life here too (haha)!! Since AU played in Starkville this Thursday night we thought it would be a great time to host some of our Auburn friends at our home. My parents, along with Brooke & Corey Chandler and Mary Frances & Robby Spaeth stayed with us Thursday night after the big win in Starkville. Although my parents and the Spaeths had to head back Friday, Brooke and Corey stayed through Saturday. We were able to give them the grand tour (which took about 15 minutes) and took them to Frenchie's for some fine BBQ. We enjoyed spending time with everyone this weekend and look forward to their next visit!!

We also enjoyed watching football at The Hawkins' house last night. We were surrounded by Ole Miss fans and were glad to help them cheer Ole Miss to a win over Tulane. Jason has already decided his MS allegiance is to Ole Miss. I'm having a hard time choosing, but after hearing so many annoying cowbells, I may be leaning toward Ole Miss. I'll always pull for Southern Miss since my old roommate in Bham and good friend, Dana Knight, is a Southern grad. But as far as the Ole Miss/MS State rivalry...we will see. I guess I'll decide when I see how the Oxford fans act on Oct. 30th against Auburn!!

Unforunately, I was too buys hosting everyone this weekend and got NO pics of our Auburn friends, but here are a few......

My new MS friends, Whitney and Kayla, before the State/AU game.

Jason just looks happy to be there and Corey is taking Tiger Walk all in :)

Not a great picture at all, but you can see Chizik through the crowd.

It was extremely hot Thursday night.....a big difference from the cool weather last Saturday. Not the best picture, since I had just climbed all the way to the upper deck. I hate away game seats!!

Labor Day Fun!!

The 1st Auburn game fell on Labor Day weekend. We usually would not make the long drive for a game like Arkansas State, but since we had Monday off, we thought why not?? We drove to Montgomery on Friday night and stayed with my sweet Grandma. She was kind enough to keep Radley for us all weekend!! It was so nice to get up Saturday morning and know we were only a short 45 minutes from The Loveliest Village on the Plains. We had a great day in Auburn and it was even better since we won!!
We didn't tailgate this game, but had lunch with my parents and celebrated my dad's birthday @ Cheeburger. We also enjoyed meeting up with some friends at Hamilton's before the game to watch some football. We then met up with Lesley, Jason, Leighton and were able to spend some time with them before the game. Although the defense did not look their best, Auburn came out with a win. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day!!
It was nice to still have Sunday and Monday to catch up with friends and family in Montgomery. Grandma treated us to lunch after church on Sunday and I was able to go to my favorite restaurant, Zoe's, on Monday before we left with Aunt VA and Grandma. I must admit I think I miss restaurants more than anything else. It was so nice to eat some good food!! We also drove through our old neighborhood and checked on our house. We are thankful that our renters are keeping it up so nicely!! Although we miss our old city, it was very nice to get back to MS on Monday. I will say our new town is growing on me every day. I still have my moments of longing for home, but those moments are becoming fewer and fewer!!

Ready for game day!!

Jason and I enjoyed celebrating my dad's 65th birthday at Cheeburger on Saturday.
Most of you know, but my dad has not missed an Auburn home or AWAY game...yes I said AWAY since 1981. We wish him many more years of enjoying Auburn football!!

One of my very best friends, Lesley Hutchison and one of daughters, Leighton.
She was so excited to be wearing her new AU cheer uniform

Although Lesley is in Birmingham and I'm in MS, I'm so glad we get to see each other often in Auburn. I can' think of better place to meet!!

We celebrated with some of our Montgomery friends on Sunday night w/ a BBQ at Jennifer
and Michael Robinson's house. Little miss Syndey Elizabeth entered the world about 4 weeks ago. She is so sweet and beautiful!!

Sweet Conner asked for the 1st time...."can I hold my cousin". I had to get a photo of that sweet moment.

Rachel (the new mom) and Elizabeth. Rachel does NOT look like she gave birth 3 week ago.

Jennifer was so sweet to arrange the Labor Day get together. She is always the hostess with the mostest!! It was great to spend some time with some of our dear Montgomery friends!!

Jennifer, me, Rachel and Elizabeth. Coral must be the new color in Montgomery. I obviously didn't get the message (ha)!!

Football and Fall!!

These are two of my favorite things!! I've always loved everything about fall....the clothes, football season, the weather, Halloween and Thanksgiving!! Since I was about 2 yrs. old (we don't believe in taking 6 week old babies to ballgames-haha- that is for another post) I've spent most Saturdays in the fall in Auburn. It holds so many fond memories for me, my family and friends. It is such a special place and I still get chills when I drive into campus. When we found out we were moving to MS we decided to keep our season tickets. We still plan to make most of the BIG SEC games, but I'm sure we will have to miss a few this year. I'm really going to miss living 45 minutes from Auburn this year :( At least we play State and Ole Miss in MS this year :)

Can't wait for kickoff in Jordan Hare on Saturday!! War Eagle!!

Nothing better than watching the Eagle fly around the stadium before kick off

Hopefully we will have lots of wins this year.....so this can happen after each game!

Samford Hall- I think this is the most beautiful building on campus!
A great place to spend a fall Saturday!
