Back on the market!!

I'm posting this for my Montgomery friends in hopes that someone needs or knows of someone looking for a house. Our house officially goes back on the MLS and market this Monday. As most of you know we decided to rent our house this past year in hopes the market would pick up. Our realtor had a great renter lined up (who took care of the house very well) and we had so much going on here...moving, buying a new house, starting new jobs....that we really didn't want to deal with the stress and hassle of selling our house at the time.

It has been a year now and our renters our moving out. Althought the market has NOT picked up, we're ready to be done with the house. Although we love it and have so many memories there (it was our first house we bought together), it is time to move on. I feel like once it is sold we will feel more settled in MS. Here are some pics and features.....
Wonderful house in Lochshire in beautiful Pike Road
4 sides brick, 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms, living room, formal dining, butler's pantry
Other features....plantation shutters on every window of house, hardwoods in living/dining, carpet in bedrooms, ceramic tile in baths, kitchen and laundry, granite in kitchen w/ decorative title back splash, all stainless steel appliances (fridge remains), double oven, thick crown moulding, curbed professinal landscaping, sprinkler system and salt water pool w/ brand new liner
Priced to sell!!! Zoned for new Pike Road school system!!!

Weekend in Bama

To our surprise we had not been back for a full weekend in AL since Christmas. We did make a quick trip to Bham MLK Day to get our dog, but most of our recent weekends have been spent in MS. It has been so nice not to be on the road as much and to take time to enjoy our new home and hometown. However, I can’t stay gone from Bama too long and President’s Day was the perfect weekend to visit old friends and family. We ventured to Montgomery, AL (my other hometown in AL) on Friday. Although I didn’t grow up there, my mom’s family all lives there, so we frequented the Capital City often growing up. Then I met and married Jason who lived in Montgomery and we lived there for 3 years together. Montgomery will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We arrived Friday evening and were able to spend some time w/ my parents and Grandma before they left the next morning w/ the rest of the fam for my cousin’s baby shower in Savannah, GA. I really hate I wasn’t able to go, but that drive is just too much for a weekend trip (esp. after you just drove 4 hrs to get to Montgomery). My cousin Amber is having another little boy in April who they will name Graham. I can’t wait to meet him!! I feel a trip to Savannah in my future during late spring??

Saturday we drove over to Auburn and had a wonderful day. What I would give to live in that town or how I wish I could go back and savor every minute of my 4 years there. Maybe one day we can retire there!! Brooke & Corey came down from Huntsville and Jennifer Harris made the trek from Hotlanta. We all convened at Matthew and Sarah Sharman’s new house in AU to visit their new arrival…Miss Ella Peyton. She was born 1/11/11 and is so perfect. Sarah looks great, their new house is beautiful and the baby is perfect. After our visit we headed to the new arena to watch the AU vs. Vandy BB game. Lets just say the arena looks a lot better than the BB team. We lost, but the loss was easier to watch in a brand new facility.

Saturday after the game we headed back to Montgomery to finish our fun weekend. We squeezed a lot in…so I will bullet point the rest of it..

~ Fun dinner at Jennifer & Michael Robinson’s house on Sat. night. We had a blast catching up with old friends...Jennifer is such a great hostess and friend :)
~Sunday we went to church and were able to catch up with many of our old life group members…one of the girls is from the MS coast and her family actually has a deer camp in nearby Lexington, MS…small world
~Yummy Sunday lunch at Blue Moon CafĂ©….best Mac-n-Cheese in town!!
~Fun Sunday night dinner w/ Jason’s old golf friends…Robby & Jamey and their families. We also got to meet Jamey and Sandy’s new daughter, Kate, who was born first of January. She is a doll!!
~Great lunch at Zoe’s on Monday w/ my sweet friend Jill Benefield…love & miss her so much!!
~a little shopping- bought some cute new flats/stocked up on MAC makeup
~put our Montgomery house back on market (I’ll save that for another post)

As you can tell we did a lot and ATE A LOT this past weekend (haha). We had such a great time catching up with everyone!! Although I know we may never live there again, I’m so thankful for our friends we made there. I know they are lifelong friends that will always be there for us. Those friends are hard to find and we feel blessed to have them in our life.

I’ll admit this past year I would get a bit depressed when we would get back to MS after a long weekend in Bama. However, I was OKAY this time. Yes, I do miss it, but I guess TIME can HEAL the heart. It has been a little over a year since we moved and living here does get easier each week. I’m so thankful for sweet friends and relationships we’ve made here. They definitely make coming back to MS much easier :)

Once again, I failed to take many pics, but did get a few shots in Auburn...

Me, Jennifer and Brooke at the BB game

We love the new arena!!

I love Jordan Hare!! It was so peaceful on Saturday, I thought it was a great time for a pic. so strange to see it w/out 85,000 people milling around outside.

Hopefully are BB team will be better next year..

Hopefully the new arena will be more full next year. Sad to spend all that money and it is not even full :(

Happy V-day and other ramblings...

Me and my Valentine :)
I'm going through old pics wishing I was some place like NYC today

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. Jason and I aren't too big on the holiday, but used it as a great excuse to eat a great meal at UMI in Starkville last night. Their sushi is wonderful and was worth the drive up HWY 12...despite seeing 20 deer on the way there and back. Poor Jason was a nervous wreck. MS...what is up with all the deer??? I lived in AL all my life, drove many rural roads and have never seen so many deer in my life. Also...skunks...we smell them pretty much every time we travel in MS. I could go on about my wild hog encounters on the trace, seeing a bob cat by 1st Presbyterian while walking my dog (Jason still doesn't believe that one)....but those are for a separate post one day.

We also had a fun date night at the JA Charity Ball on Sat. night. Not being from here, I had no clue what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. I think the JA Girls need a big reward for transforming that coliseum into something so lovely!! I thought they did a wonderful job. I'm so mad b/c I left my camera at home and didn't take any pics :( It was a great night to get dressed up, have fun w/ friends and it's even better b/c the $$ goes to great causes!!

Tonight we started our Valentine's celebration by starting Week 7 of Couch to 5K...aren't we romantic (haha). We both ran 2 miles (8 laps) at the high school track non-stop. I know this is nothing for my runner friends, but to me this was HUGE. I never thought I could do it, but honestly, I could have gone a few more laps tonight. Next goal of the week is 10 laps (2.5 miles)...so stay tuned!! Hopefully I'll be able to get out of bed tomorrow.

I'm about to continue V-day by making poor Jason watch The Bachelor w/ me and then I'll watch Hawaii 5.0 w/ him. Life is just so exciting!! Although I'm kidding and being a bit sarcastic, there really is no place I rather be than sitting on the couch w/ Jason watching TV (except maybe in NYC w/ Jason of course).....but just as long as we're together, I'm good with that!! I feel very thankful to have a wonderful husband and someone special to share this cheesey holiday with. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!!

A feel good story...

In a world full of hate, violence, greed, etc.... isn't it always great to watch a news clip about something GOOD, NOBLE and SELFLESS!!! Jason and I saw this story on the news last night and it definitely brought a tear to the eye....

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=6100855

I love sport b/c I feel like it is such a great equalizer. It bring so many people of different backgrounds together (players and fans) and it doesn't matter what social class, race or religion you are. One of our favorite shows is E:60 on ESPN. If you ever get a chance watch it!!

Winter Wonderland

The news said our area would be getting 3-5 inches of snow this evening. For some reason I never take them seriously, but they proved me wrong today. The snow arrived around 1:30 today and didn't stop falling until earlier this evening. So beautiful...just wish it would "stick" for a few days!

Rascal Flatts

Jason treated me to a fun Saturday night in Tupelo. You're probably thinking....why Tupelo, but these guys were playing!! It was a great concert and we had a wonderful time!!

We're really not big country music fans, but both enjoy Rascal Flatts. When we found out they were going to be near us, we jumped at the chance to see them. Since I'm new to MS, I enjoy seeing different parts of the state. I've actually stayed in Tupelo a few times on the way to Ole Miss/AU games, but never saw more than the exit on HWY 78. Tupelo is actually a really nice town...it reminds me a lot of the area where I'm from...Anniston/Oxford. The Bancorp South Arena was also a great venue for a concert. Since we bought our tickets a few days before the concert we were pretty high up, but as you can see from the pics below our view was great. There really was not a bad seat in the house. I'm hoping another great concert comes to Tupelo soon :)
