We had a great Mother's Day weekend in Oxford. It was great to spend time with both of our Moms and to see them interact with Patton :) Becoming a Mother has made me appreciate even more what all my Mom did for me. Jason made my day so special with some wonderful gifts, a heart felt card (from himself and another one from Patton- Jason said he told him what to write-ha!). I think the best gifts of the weekend was Jason getting up with Patton during his 3 am feeding on Sat. and my Mom on Fri. I definitely felt refreshed Sunday morning!!!

One Month Old and Baby Bjorn
Patton turned one month old on May 2nd. The 1st month flew by :( and before we know it he will be one year old. I'm trying to savor every precious moment with him. I took his one month picture as Jason was getting home from work that day and Jason decided to try out the Baby Bjorn since we had the camera out. Jason had been dying to put him in it. To Jason's dismay, he wasn't too thrilled with it. I'm sure as he gets older he will like it more. I actually tried it out the other day and he seemed to be coming around to it :)
Bath Time Fun :)
Some of our favorite times with Patton have been during his bathtime. He absolutely loves getting baths (I hope that last). We love to watch his sweet little faces while we bath him. The best part is when he is done....he looks so adorable in his hooded towels. Who could resist this face....

Thomas Patton Pope 4/2/2012
I orginally created my blog b/c I thought what a great way to document our future child's life one day. Well, here it his almost 2 months later and I have not documented anything about Patton's 1st 7 weeks on the blog. He has been sleeping from 11:00 pm-5:00 am the past few nights, so I'm well rested and hopefully can catch back up on blogging!!
As many of you know our sweet bundle of joy was born Monday, April 2nd at 12:48 pm at Woman's Hospital in Jackson. We are so thankful to have a beautiful and health baby boy. I knew I would love Patton and take good care of him, but never knew how much I could love someone. He has been absolutely perfect!!! He is a pretty content baby most of the time. Other than the first few fussy nights at home, he sleeps pretty well and loves to COO :)
I had a scheduled C section due to some high blood pressure and the possiblity of Patton being a "bigger" baby. Dr. North thought he may be around 9 lbs, but he weighed 8 lbs even. My blood pressure had been extremely low throughout my pregnancy and the last two weeks shot up. I was very fortunate to have a very easy delivery/section, wonderful hospital experience and quick recovery. I actually was able to start exercising/walking around 3 weeks and attempted to run at 4 weeks. I had my 6 week post partum check up last Thursday and everything was great :) I'm "almost" back to normal. I'm trying to get that last 5-7 lbs that won't seem to come off, but I know that will come with time.
Since I'm way behind on blogging, I'll give you a quick run down of our last 7 weeks and post a few pics!! I'm going to make my best effort starting this week to at least update it weekly!!
~Patton came home Thursday, 4/5/2012. A great thing about a small town is caring people and wonderful cooks!! Someone brought us homecooked meals for almost 2 weeks!! It was wonderful. This whole pregnancy has made me realized that I should be more thoughtful.
~My Mom and Dad were here for 2 weeks helping out. I think Mom thought I'd be really down and out with a section; I think my quick recovery suprised her
~Patton had his 2 week check up at Rankin's Children's Clinic and his newborn pics the same day!! He did great with both. This was his 1st big trip out and about in Jackson
~He has made two visits to the bank to visit Mommy's co-workers
~He has made a few trips to Jackson with us. He is a great car rider...thank goodness...as much as we love to be on the go!! His 1st restaurant visit was to PF Changs (ha)...he wasn't too impressed as he snoozed the entire lunch. His 1st celebrity (sort of celebrity) sighting was there as well....the former infamous NOLA mayor, Ray Nagin, was in the waiting area with us. Patton wasn't too impressed with that either...LOL!!
~He has enjoyed many strolls around the neighborhood recently. He is already chasing older girls, when we had a stroll date with 1 year old, Rachel Potts.
~He loves to play on the activity mat, be sung to and we try to read at least once a day.
~We became really brave when we decided to venture home for a friend's engagement party Mother's Day weekend. It was his 1st big road trip at 6 weeks old. He did great. Slept all the way from Kosy to Bham (about 3 hrs). We stopped and fed/changed him in Bham and then he slept the last hour all the way to Oxford. He loved his baby bed at Nana's house (he still sleeps in a bassinet here). He also was able to spend time with his cousins (Matti & Jack), Jason's parents (Maw Maw & Paw Paw), and made a visit to our friend's, Jeremy and Brittany's house.
~He had his 1st trip to church when we were home. He did great through the songs, communion, etc. Once the preaching started he started to fuss...haha!!
Now to the present day...Patton at 7 weeks. He is now sleeping about 6-7 hrs. straight at night (so thankful for that!!!), is beginning to notice us/ the dogs, loves his bottle and is a pure joy!!!
However, he is now awake and is ready for his 9:00 am feeding. So the post will end here. Please check back, as I plan to post some pics later today.
Sorry for the rambling post and my blogging absence. Hope to be back soon!!
